If you have read our previous post about the reasons Why you need a Wedding Coordinator, you can at least know now the importance of hiring one. Before we thought that hiring one would just be a waste of money or “pa-sosyal lang” but in reality, their job is one of the most crucial things to make the wedding successful because they are making sure that everything will be organized on the day itself. They would also be the one who will try to troubleshoot the unwanted and unforeseen problems that you might encounter on your wedding day. Bottomline, they will be your wedding best friends that will try their very best to make sure that you and your fiance will have the best possible “perfect once-in-a-lifetime wedding!” Though for newly engaged couples, it would be quite hard to determine which type you would need. But based on our experience and some of our friend’s experiences, we’ll just sum up which coordinators should you choose based on some of these basic pieces of information. These will vary depending on the couple in general.
Below are useful things you and your fiance can ponder to see which would suit your needs.
One of the underrated things that couples need to tick off from the Wedding Checklist is the WeddingSupplier Crew Meals. Before we thought that we don’t need to allot money for this since only a few suppliers will be present at our wedding and actually akala namin kasama na yung food nila sa bayad namin. Admittedly,we felt naive with this concept at first since here in Kuwait, whenever we freelance with some events, either we’d always be included in the guest list or we need to make sure that we’re already full and not expect our clients to feed us because it’s not part of the agreement. But, in the Philippines, it’s entirely different. So after we researched on the importance of crew meals and talking to our Coordinator, we came to realize that we should definitely provide for them because they will be working very hard for more than 6 hours on our wedding day! After going through all supplier contracts and double checking it with our Coordinator, we found out that our expected number of crews/staff have increased and that some wedding suppliers even have their own “preferred” meals or corresponding meal allowances.
This is a very common question for any couple getting married. When is the right time to do our prenup shoot? Next month? After 6 months? 1 month before the wedding? Next holiday? As a former bride myself, I’ve been through these questions dozens of times to the point that Garry was telling me to just choose whichever date is okay and done! We’re good to go. As if it’s that easy… But seriously though, choosing the right, perfect, awesome prenup date is not as easy as 1, 2, 3 because you need to consider a lot of factors. It’s similar to arranging your own wedding event, just that it’s a photoshoot (or videoshoot).
So for your Prenup/ Engagement shoot, you can choose any date, any location you desire, any pegs that you want to do etc but unfortunately, it will still depend on the following factors that you definitely need to consider:
Concepts are everywhere. It’s really difficult to come out with a unique design, but then when you do, and tried to make it “personalized” with how you envisioned your dream event or wedding for that matter, you would feel that all your hard work has paid off. And then comes the realization that even if you have been nice to your supplier and paid them diligently and without fault, the outcome won’t be as perfect as you imagined it to be — even after all the meetings and final detailing that you did to remind them about it. Then, you moved on. Your wedding’s over.
Then one day you’ll see another event that has the “similarities in some of the few styling details from your own wedding” and with what you and your hubby really envisioned a couple of months back. Then the excitement will hit you and be like.. Wow it looks beautiful! Coincidence, maybe?
During our wedding preps, everything was on a tight budget. From our major suppliers until down to the very smallest detail, everything was accounted for. And like any other couple, we, of course wanted everyone to be reminded of our special day but not to the extent of printing save the date cards and sending them out to our guests. They’re good, no offense, but for us it’s pretty much redundant already since we already planned to give out our official formal wedding invites. Plus, the printing and shipping would cost us a few thousand that we felt would be better off with our invites or some other important wedding supplier. Besides, we don’t want to jump on the bandwagon. We wanted to be unique. We wanted to showcase who we are as a couple. So..what better way to present it was through our passion — photography and videography!

I really like his editorial style of shooting which exudes elegance and suave so when we got engaged I quickly asked about his current rates but was so disappointed to find out that he was beyond our budget. We are a budget couple so everything should be within our budget. But one thing we learned from this wedding planning preps, if you really can’t sleep for weeks because you know in your heart you really wanted that supplier, go for it!
We are Garry and Aiki, a newly-married Filipino couple based in Kuwait. We created this blog to document our own wedding planning journey after we got engaged last August 2015.
For 15 months, we carefully planned Our Budget Dream Wedding while we are both based overseas as OFWs where we heavily relied on the resources that we found online through various wedding magazines, blogs, Facebook groups, forums and Pinterest for our source of wedding inspiration. Since we weren’t able to go home to meet up with our shortlisted wedding suppliers, we used Email, Facebook chat, Viber, Skype and Instagram to communicate with them. It was quite challenging on our part because we only relied on our supplier client reviews/feedback and their output that was posted online.
How did we survive our wedding planning since we are based overseas? Simple.
Everything was done online – from research, communication, reservations/booking and even payments.
Is that a bit scary since you’re like gambling kasi hindi mo naman personally nakita yung mga supplier mo? Well, truth is… Suntok sa buwan talaga ang ginawa namin dahil buong loob kami na nag-tiwala sa Suppliers na kinuha namin na hindi nila kami lolokohin lalu na at nagkalat ang mga scammers! It’s all about “trust” talaga and doing your own “research” thoroughly.To be sure, get a reputable supplier na kilala na pero siyempre afford pa rin ng budget! And in our case, thankfully, everything went well. (Though except for a few minor flaws, of course.. and that’s another story to tell which you can read through our Wedding Supplier Reviews.)
Also throughout this wedding planning journey, we also came to realize na kulang yung information for couples who are planning to get married in the Philippines especially for OFWs like us and who are on a tight wedding budget! And initially, this blog is only intended for us to document everything, but because of this realization and the need to help other couples like us who are really confused with what they’re supposed to do, we decided to make all the information in our wedding blog publicly available and hopefully it would help others in their own wedding preps journey.
Overall, the journey was a rollercoaster ride of emotions filled with excitement, frustration, and bliss.. but it was a journey definitely worth remembering! This is #OurLoveStoReal and this is #OurBudgetDreamWedding .

Unfortunately, event styling has become too pricey due to the recent demand and glamour that it adds to weddings. For those who are on a tight budget like us — this could probably be a dream to get unless a miracle would happen! 🙂

Their rates, however, varies depending on your wedding date, number of guests, size of venue, flowers (local, imported or mixed) and decors to be used, if reception only or with ceremony or with bridal bouquet/entourage flowers, OOT fees (if applicable), corkages (if not accredited by the venue and caterer), number of crew meals and reputation (mid-range or high end supplier). It is highly advisable to contact them directly for your specific event quotation.
The bride’s gown has been (and always will be) the centerpiece of a wedding event. Whether the ceremony is well decorated, the reception has the best food being served, the groom looked dashing or the flowers are just magical. Nothing still beats the attention that the bride will receive on her wedding day. And yes, all eyes will be on what she’ wearing. Cliche as it may seem, all girls have their dream wedding gown made by their dream wedding designer or Couturier. Unfortunately, not all couturiers are affordable. Unless the couple wanted to go all out and is willing to spend Php 500k +++ for a one-day-gown then it’s no big deal! It’s not difficult to choose THE dream designers since names like Vera Wang, Michael Cinco, Elie Saab, Krikor Jabotian, Monique Lhuillier, Ezra, Berta, Zuhair Murad etc were all over the place.
But for budget weddings like us, practicality would always be top priority. Practicality doesn’t mean we can’t afford them, but we just decided to keep things within our range.. besides there are other great wedding couturiers in the Philippines who can produce the same great quality but on a lower price scale. Personally, I don’t want my dress to only look gorgeous but I want it to be remembered as the most important gown that I will be wearing for the rest of my life!
Below is a list of awesome Philippine-based designers that we have researched so far and their starting price range only as of October 2015 and will definitely change without prior notice.
Bridal Gown rates normally include the veil, cord, pillows etc. Prices also vary depending on the following: the reputation of the designer, the fabric to be used, gown style if 1 way or 2-way, pegs, embellishments (pearls, Swarovski etc), accessories, and the degree of difficulty to be done. These designers can be researched easily since the majority have websites and FB pages with their portfolios (past and recent designs). One thing we noticed though, once a designer features a celebrity, automatically their price range would increase by 10%++ aside from that fact that they do increase on a quarterly or semi-annual basis! So if you find what you think would fit your budget, better book an appointment with them now! Happy preps 🙂

That’s how we envision our big day. We want the whole 24 hours, every minute and every second captured through the lens if possible because this is something that we’d definitely treasure for the rest of our lives. But finding the perfect wedding photographer and videographer that fits right on a couple’s tight budget is like finding a needle in a haystack. That’s how difficult and serious the task is. Being an overseas bride-to-be as well, the only way for me to find our perfect team is through images and reviews by other people posted online. (Thank you to the wonders of the internet!) But sadly, a lot of factors are still needed to be considered as well aside from the budget since the photographer and videographer’s creativity, style and packages differ a lot.
Since future hubby and I have an exposure in doing events — he’s a video editor and I’m a newbie photographer who has covered simple prenup and weddings before, this became one of the most difficult challenges to get through. Although we both know that we have more than a year to search for the BESTEST YET AFFORDABLE PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER back home, this still makes us go “AWWW, WHY ARE THEY SO EXPENSIVE?!“. So far we have inquired a couple of photographers and videographers that are really good at their craft. But when it comes to the packages.. some would make us want to cry. 😦
Anyway, rates posted below is for 2015 to 2016 and is obviously subject to change without notice but usually, prices increase after November or December. The rates are their packages and they have stand-alone or customized ones which you can ask them personally. They’re listed in a random order and in Philippine pesos denomination (Php).
