Things to ask your Venue

Searching for the perfect venue to have your wedding reception is as important as finding your dream church and your bridal gown designer. Your venue, of course, would host all of your guests for possibly 4-5 hours after doing your ceremonial rites. There are tons of awesome venues around the country, whether you’re planning to have them in a hotel, events place or in a clubhouse, but when you do your inquiry be sure to always include the basics.

  • name
  • date of event
  • time of event
  • number of possible guests
  • contact information (email, mobile #, viber # etc)
  • tell where you found out about them (optional, but this is good especially if you’re going to haggle for possible discounts later on due to referrals)

During initial inquiry ask your Venue about…

  • Venue only rates VS Venue with caterer package rates
  • inclusions of the package
    • total number of hours for use
    • with AC or no AC
    • with ceiling drapes or no ceiling drapes
    • maximum capacity
    • parking space
    • parking attendant or valet services
    • other freebies (use of venue for prenup use)
  • accredited suppliers
  • connected suppliers to get discounts from (for hotel preps bookings etc)
  • corkage fees
  • other electrical fees
  • contract details (package upgrade, package downgrade, cancellation etc)
  • restrictions and limitations (no party poppers, no fireworks allowed etc)
  • aerial video shoot (allowed or not, if not what are the other options etc)
  • discount, promo, bridal fair schedules etc that you can avail
  • payment terms (full payment or cash)
  • preferred payment type (cash, remittance or through bank deposit)
  • other supplier recommendations like Stylist, Photo team, HMUA, coordinator etc
