Wedding Supplier Review: CARISSA CIELO MEDVED Entourage HMUA

We wanted our Entourage to be their most beautiful on our wedding so we made sure to hire the best possible HMUA who can do justice to our specific peg in mind. Luckily, we found him during our search when his former bride, who was a friend of ours, referred him to us. Here is our supplier review for our Entourage HMUA — CARISSA CIELO MEDVED

Hair and Make-Up by Carissa Cielo’s team

Initially, we plan to get our main HMUA’s team to do our Entourage as well but due to budget constraints we looked for a more affordable HMUA until we found Carissa. Even though I couldn’t find any previous review about Carissa’s work online and even from WAW, I was fortunate enough to get a real feedback from one of our friends (Faye Briones) who just got married a year before us. They found out about Carissa because my friend was an avid fan of pageant contests. Searching through Carissa’s profile I found out that he’s been working with celebrities from ABS-CBN but mostly with pageant contestants from Aces & Queens and Binibining Pilipinas, respectively. With this on his belt, I became interested to inquire about his rates and found out that he’s willing to do my Entourage-only hair and make-up for a very affordable price probably because we had a connection to start with (his former bride).

During our FB video chat, Carissa was very prompt with replies and we immediately hit it off because of his bubbly attitude. We discussed in detail about our inquiry, the rate that he’s giving us, the number of our possible entourage (since at that time tentative pa yung list), other possible guests who would probably avail of their services, type of make-up, products, our wedding peg look for our entourage etc. After that video call, we immediately booked his services and felt that we did the right thing.

On the wedding day itself, Carissa and his team arrived in the hotel at 8 AM. Unfortunately some of our girls hadn’t arrived yet so they took the time to do their setup first. But then as per our Coordinator, they started to do the hair and make-up of our girls past 9 AM. Moreover, as per our agreement Carissa will provide 2 hair stylists and 3 make-up artists to cover our 9 Female Entourage, 1 Dad, 1 Ninong, 1 Ninang and some guests. To make things easier we even managed to create a list for the names of the people who do have their hair and make-up with them.

But on the wedding day itself, only 3 staff came from their team, including Carissa. Even if they arrived on schedule, isa pa din ito sa naging reason why kulang ako ng isang Secondary Sponsor (my sister-in-law) during our bridal preps shoot, napalipat yung 1 Ninong and his daughter sa main HMUA team namin for their make-over and so on. We were only able to find out about this after the wedding when my sister-in-law told me her reasons bakit hindi pa siya tapos during our bridal preps pictorial.

Close-up shot of one of our EntourageThere was an issue with Carissa and my bridal assistant during the wedding that actually affected the duties of my bridal assistant with me. Because of this, parati wala sa tabi ko yung assistant ko and naawa din ako kay Ms Varna kasi she was always going back and forth to Carissa’s room to settle the payment issues with her.

And then there was an issue also with Carissa and my bridal assistant, Ms Varna during the wedding that actually affected the duties of my bridal assistant with me. Because of this, parati wala sa tabi ko yung assistant ko and naawa din ako kay Ms Varna kasi she was always going back and forth to Carissa’s room to settle the payment issues with her. Kaya every time she would come back to me, stressed talaga hitsura niya since as per my entourage, nagulat sila sa medyo hindi okay na usapan ng dalawa. Since we weren’t obviously in the room to witness it, we took the time to ask our entourage what actually happened. They said na hindi nagkaintindihan yung dalawa to the point na nagtaasan na sila ng boses and Carissa even told Varna na hindi siya pipitsugin na make-up artist na napulot lang sa tabi-tabi kaya huwag i-treat ng ganun at kung ano yung napag-usapan yun dapat ang masunod. But during the time that Varna would come back to me sa room, she just looked stressed and would tell me na siya na bahala. Little did I know na ganun na pala yung issue between them. Of course I was sad to hear about what happened so after the wedding we apologized to both sides for whatever misunderstanding the situation might have caused since we know fault may din yung ibang entourage namin and thankfully, forgive and forget na sila about it.

We wanted a fresh make-up look, which is more focused on the eyes but with red lipstick to match the hue of our girl’s gown and a red rose to be put on their hair to still be in sync with our Spanish Vintage Glam theme which Carissa executed beautifully

Anyway, other than that, we really appreciated what Carissa did to our entourage. Make-up wise, they’re really flawless and instead of transforming them, they accentuated my girl’s features. Hindi matapang make-up nila but instead they looked fresh and the peg that we have was followed. My girls loved their make-up even if it was only traditional HD and not airbrush! The eyebrows were also neatly done and even after the wedding tumagal din talaga after the reception! For the rate that Carissa gave us, talagang sulit siya since ang ganda ng pagkakagawa!

PROS

  • Carissa replies promptly and is easy to deal with. He will share insights about ano yung ok sa peg since in our case we have this specific style we want for our girls especially since they will be wearing a bold and dark color.
  • The hair and make-up that Carissa’s team did with our female entourage were really flawless and instead of transforming them, they accentuated my girl’s features. Hindi matapang make-up nila but instead they looked fresh and the peg that we have was followed. From the output of their work you know that Carissa is really a pro.

Because of this hindi tuloy complete yung bridal preps pictorial namin.

**Tip!** If you have a hair and make-up peg for your Entourage, be sure to give the complete details with photos to your HMUA so they would know what to do on the day itself. Mas ok na clear lahat so any possible issues would be lessened.

**Tip!** Be sure to list down all the names of your Entourage who will have their hair and make-up as well as any other possible people (Ninangs, Ninongs, other relatives, guests etc) who may feel like they wanted to have an on-the-spot makeover so your HMUA would be prepared. Mahirap magkagulatan sa mismong araw ng wedding since it could dampen your timeline with photo ops etc.
